Now Accepting Job Applications for the 2012 River Season

There are varied seasonal job opportunities at Verde River Adventure Center. The company was founded in 2007 by Richard Lynch and features guided rafting and kayaking trips, outdoor specialty store with sportswear, raft and kayak gear and a rental program with rafts, kayaks and canoes. Our river season runs from March through October, with mid-May through August being the busiest months. Guided river trips are conducted mainly on the Verde River in Camp Verde and in Cottonwood section (class I & II rapids). First year guides are generally assigned to work on the Camp Verde section of the river. 

RIVER GUIDE:

Guides are responsible for safely guiding guests in oar and paddle rafts and providing professional meals, area interpretation and entertainment during the course of their trip. A guide rigs and de-rigs trips, maintains equipment and general warehouse upkeep. You will need a current CPR and First Aid certification (WFR or Emergency Responder)

Applicants must have a sincere interest in working with people, be in good physical condition, and become knowledgeable in river safety techniques, area history, culture, geology and biology. Foreign language skills (particularly German, French and Italian) are a plus. First year guides are generally assigned to work on the Camp Verde River segment. Minimum age is 25 years old.

VAN/BUS DRIVER:

Drivers are responsible for safely transporting Verde River Adventure Center. guests, guides and trailered boats and gear to and from river access points, and for keeping vehicles serviced and clean.

Minimum age is 25, and all drivers must have a ‘clean’ (no tickets or accidents in the last three years) driving record, a DMV report will be requested prior to employment. Drivers must demonstrate proficiency driving either 15-passenger vans or 26 to 36-passenger bus, and in backing fully loaded trailers with either type of vehicle. Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance is required. Applicants with current Commercial Drivers License (CDL) are preferred, but Verde River Adventure Center will train qualified individuals. Good communication skills and a pleasant attitude are essential.

RAFT/KAYAK RENTAL STAFF:

This position involves handling reservations and information requests for raft, kayak and canoe rentals, as well as retail sales of boating equipment and accessories. This position may also require occasional shuttle driving (vans only) to transport renters and equipment to the river access point.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess excellent organizational skills and have experience in cash register operation. Experience and knowledge in rafting, kayaking and/or canoeing is highly desirable. Knowledge of the Verde River Valley area (attractions, activities, etc.) is a plus.

RETAIL SALES STAFF:

Individuals are responsible for handling information and reservation requests for river trips and boat and gear rentals. Additional responsibilities include assisting retail customers – answering questions, completing sales and inventory management.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess excellent organizational skills and have experience in cash register operation. Computer, Point-of-sale and office procedure experience is desirable. Knowledge of sportswear merchandise, rafting, kayaking and the Verde River Valley area (attraction, activities, etc.) is a plus.
