The Verde River RunOff began in 2000 with just 27 racers and 18 boats, but last year had grown to accommodate 138 races in 104 boats. The Verde River RunOff Race follows a popular river route for approximately 10 miles along the Verde River. It is fun for all experience levels, and draws fun-seekers from across Arizona.

Races begin at 10:00am with canoe racing first, although there are plenty of race classes for all water enthusiasts, including Competitive Division-Solo, Competitive Division-Tandem, Recreational Division-Solo and Recreational Division-Tandem. These four areas are further subdivided into groups for tandem or single kayaks, canoes, and inflatable kayaks. The registration fee for the event is on a per-boat basis, and runs only $50 per solo boat and $75 per tandem boat.
